Introduction of additives for biodegradable plastic products (5)

Acrylic ester (ACR) melt enhancer
Biobased and biodegradable plastics generally have high brittleness and poor melt strength, and there are many shortcomings in film blowing and foaming processing. At present, the application of acrylic ester melt enhancers is an effective measure to increase and improve the strength of bio-based and biodegradable plastics melt.
ACR melt enhancers were first researched and developed in the 1970s by Rohm and Haas of the United States and Mitsubishi Rayon Corporation of Japan. After entering the 21st century, Dow Chem, Arkema and other enterprises have been involved in the research of PLA melt enhancers, and have successively developed Paraloid BPMS 250, BPMS 260, BPMS 265 and Bio-strength 700 products. The development and research of acrylate melt enhancer in China began in the late 1990s. However, ACR melt enhancers for biodegradable plastics to date are still in their infancy.
Shanxi Institute of Chemical Engineering fully draws on the traditional technology of acrylic ester processing and impact modifier, and develops and researches acrylic ester melt enhancer Bio-ACR series products for biodegradable plastic melt enhancement through grafting technology such as ultra-high molecular and comb polymer structure.
There is still a long way to go for domestic biodegradable plastic melt enhancers, and ultra-high molar mass has become an important trend in the development of ACR melt enhancers in the world today.
