British company AMT announces cooperation with Mitsubishi Electric for 3D printing - plastic

3D printing can not only be used as a means to establish factory automation but also make new technologies more automated. In particular, the most important part of the 3D printing workflow, which automates and improves efficiency, usually consists of a series of laborious and expensive tasks.

The British Additive Manufacturing Technologies (AMT) announced a partnership with Mitsubishi Electric to work together to automate AMT`s PostPro 3D chemical steam smoothing machine.

PostPro 3D smoothes parts through laser or high-speed sintering in an automatic way. The set parameters and algorithms apply AMT's physical and chemical boundary layer automatic smoothing technology process to the parts, so that the printing smoothing accuracy reaches 1μm.

And multiple parts made of the same material and the same requirements can be processed at the same time, and the fineness can be selected. It only takes 90 to 120 minutes to print out the available parts, and the printer can automatically re-add consumables. According to Joseph Crabtree, CEO of AMT, automation can greatly reduce the finishing of parts, which accounts for 30-70% of total manufacturing costs.
