1. What is PCTG
PCTG is an amorphous copolyester. In its production process, because a certain amount of ethylene glycol is replaced by 1, 4-cyclohexane dimethanol(CHDM), crystallization can be prevented, thereby improving the processing and manufacturing and transparency. Its products, excellent impact resistance, especially suitable for forming thick wall transparent products, its processing and molding performance is excellent, can be designed according to the designer's intention of any shape, may use traditional extrusion, injection molding, blow molding and blister molding methods, can be widely used in sheet, sheet, high-performance shrink film, bottle and profile and other markets, while the second processing performance is excellent. It can be modified by conventional machining.
2. Main characteristics of PCTG
(1) No BPA: BPA will cause harm to the body's immune system, and plastic products containing BPA once heated or in contact with high temperature liquids, will quickly release harmful substances that can cause brain tissue damage and induce cancer.
(2) Environmental protection: The substrate of PCTG material is environmentally friendly material, which meets the requirements of food contact management.
(3) Excellent chemical resistance: PCTG sheet can withstand a variety of chemicals and commonly used cleaning agents.
(4) Clear and transparent: PCTG material is transparent and colorless, the light transmittance of the finished product is >90%, the fog degree is <1%, and the crystal luster.
(5) Excellent thermoforming performance: Compared with
PC board or acrylic, PCTG material products have short molding cycle, low temperature and higher yield.
(6) Easy processing: PCTG sheet is not easy to break. Slight surface scratches can be removed with a heat gun. Solvent bonding is also a routine procedure. It is easier to process than through acrylic, impact modified acrylic or PC board, and can be processed by flocking, electroplating, electrostatic. More widely used
(7) Excellent impact strength: The extruded sheet of PCTG sheet is usually 5 to 10 times stronger than the general impact modified acrylic. PETG sheets have sufficient endurance during processing, transportation and use to help prevent breakage.
(8) Weather resistance: it can maintain the toughness of the product and prevent yellowing. Contains ultraviolet absorbent, which can be co-extruded into a protective layer to protect the sheet from the harmful effects of ultraviolet light.
(9) Economy: It is cheaper than PC board and more durable than acrylic.
Third, the main uses of PCTG
The excellent performance of PCTG determines the application of PCTG is extremely wide.
(1) Board, sheet
Using conventional molding methods, PCTG can be used to prepare transparent materials 1~25.4mm thick, with outstanding toughness and high impact strength, its impact strength is 3~10 times that of modified polyacrylates, excellent molding performance, cold bending, no whitening, no cracks, easy to print and modify. Widely used in indoor and outdoor signs, storage shelves, vending machine panels, furniture, construction and mechanical baffles.
(2) Profile
It can be made into pipes or various profiles, and its products are hard, transparent, good luster, not white under pressure, easy to form and post-processing, in line with environmental protection requirements, and in line with FDA food contact standards, widely used in building decoration and materials.
It can also be used in beverage bottles, improving the lack of low toughness of traditional polyester beverage bottles, especially suitable for the manufacture of large-capacity thick wall transparent containers, highly transparent, not easy to break, easy to surface modification, to meet the US FDA food contact standards, can be applied to food and medical products and other fields.
(3) Cosmetic packaging
PCTG has glass-like transparency and density close to glass, good gloss, chemical corrosion resistance, impact resistance, and easy processing, can be injection molding, injection blow molding and extrusion blow molding. It can also produce unique shapes, appearance and special effects, and is widely used in the packaging of cosmetics.
